About Our School
Dedicated to excellence in education and Christian character development since 2008
Our History
Founded in 2008, Zion International Schools began with a vision to provide quality education rooted in Christian values to the children of Uganda. What started as a small primary school with just three classrooms and 45 students has grown into a comprehensive educational institution serving over 500 students from kindergarten through high school.
Our founders, Ms. Martha Mpanga, established ZIS with the belief that education should nurture not only the mind but also the heart and spirit. Their dedication to academic excellence and spiritual formation continues to guide our mission today.
Over the years, we have expanded our facilities, enhanced our curriculum, and strengthened our commitment to preparing students who will make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. Our graduates have gone on to prestigious universities worldwide and have entered diverse professions where they serve with integrity and purpose.
Our Vision
We believe every child deserves an education that develops their unique talents and prepares them for a purposeful future.
Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders
Develops their unique talents and interests
Teaches them how money and business actually work
Empowers them to create their own opportunities
Prepares them for the challenges of tomorrow
Instills values that guide purposeful living
We aren't just preparing students for jobs—we're equipping them to create value, build wealth, and transform communities.
Our View of the Child
Our educational philosophy is informed by a specific understanding of the child:
Inherent Value and Dignity
We believe each child is created in God's image with inherent worth that transcends academic performance or economic contribution. Every educational practice must respect this fundamental dignity.
Natural Curiosity and Creativity
We recognize children as naturally curious, creative beings whose intrinsic motivation to learn and create should be nurtured rather than suppressed. We design learning experiences that tap into this innate drive.
Unique Design and Calling
We see each child as possessing a unique combination of talents, interests, and potential that points toward their future contribution. Our role is to help students discover and develop their distinctive gifts.
Capacity for Responsibility
We believe children are capable of far more responsibility and agency than traditional education typically allows. We progressively increase student ownership of their learning and business ventures.
Our Pedagogical Approach
Our teaching methods flow directly from our philosophy:
Guided Discovery
Rather than merely transmitting information, our educators design experiences that lead students to discover concepts and principles for themselves, creating deeper understanding and retention.
Socratic Questioning
We use thoughtful questioning to stimulate critical thinking, challenge assumptions, and help students refine their ideas and deepen their understanding.
Apprenticeship Model
Students learn alongside experienced mentors who model expert thinking, gradually transferring responsibility as students develop competence and confidence.
